You need an Android smartphone or iPhone and ID card. Using the ROeID application installed on your mobile phone you will take a picture of your identity card, a selfie picture with your face as well as a 20-second movie in which you will move the position of your head as requested on the screen.

Most websites in Romania use a username and password to authenticate users. The ROeiD identity replaces all these things into one. One password for all websites of the Romanian state.

The information you send us is thoroughly verified by our computer system. Very likely, the brightness and clarity of the photographs, ID card and film is not good enough to allow an identification of the information provided. Go close to a light source and take pictures with the light behind the camera. Make sure there are no bright reflections on your ID card when you photograph it. Present your original ID card during video recording according to the on-screen instructions. Read clearly, loudly and very clearly the words indicated on the screen. Don't hold your phone close to you. Your image should be visible when you speak.

The email address is used as the account name. To change your email address, you need to access the "Delete account" option in the Settings menu from the mobile application. You will thus start a new process of obtaining your digital identity that will be associated to your new email address. If you no longer have access to your old email address then it is necessary to delete the application from your phone together with the data stored by it and install again, indicating in the enrollment process the new email address.

If you know your current password, you can change it from the ROeID application in the Settings menu > Change password. Enter your old password, and then validate your new password. If you no longer know the password then you can reset it by accessing the ROeID portal at: https://www.roeid.ro/resetare-parola

The ROeID application installed on your phone works as a second factor of authentication through push notifications. When installing the application, you are prompted to grant the right for the app to receive notification messages. Please check on your phone that the ROeID application has the right to receive notifications.

Electronic identity approval involves registering your phone as a second factor of authentication via push notification. Changing phones requires resuming the registration process to activate the app on your new phone. After approving the identity, the ROeID application on the old phone will be deactivated and you will no longer receive on that phone the messages approving the connection requests.

The implementation process can take between two weeks and one month depending on the chosen technical implementation mechanism. ADR provides a test environment that can be used by the technical team to verify correct operation. After the technical team of the new service provider finishes the work on the test environment, the ADR team issues a connection notice to the production environment and hands over the credentials specific to it.

ROeID is Romania's Single Sign-On (SSO) solution for citizens' digital interactions with the administration, through which digital identities can be generated and managed for all Romanian citizens. ROeID is the deliverable of the project "Centralized software platform for digital identification", implemented by the Authority for Digitization of Romania. The overall objective of the project is to improve and automate the way citizens access government electronic services and to ensure the unique electronic identity of each citizen who uses e-Government services. Therefore, ROeID is the gateway and the first security checkpoint for eGovernment electronic services.

The main benefit of SSO is that you no longer have to remember multiple usernames and passwords for government apps and services. This gives you a smoother and more efficient user experience. In addition, SSO improves security by centralizing authentication and authorization management.

Soon, ROeID will be usable for accessing public platforms at the European level. If you have an ROeID account, you will be able to use it for identity validation on governmental platforms across the 27 European Union member states. ROeID complements another project implemented by the Authority for the Digitization of Romania, SITUE - the Technological Interoperability System with EU Member States, which will function as a common identification software for the entire European Union. SITUE will facilitate the construction of the eIDAS node for Romania and its interconnection with eIDAS nodes of other EU member states, as well as with identity and electronic service providers in Romania.
